Don’t make the same mistake many of us make! We often times offer basketball camps (group trainings or private lessons) solely based on whether there is demand in the community.
Not good!
My decision to run basketball camps is based on 2 things: demand and means. Of course, there must be demand. But also, the kid’s parents must also have the means to pay your camp fees.
If both criterions are met, you have a business. If only one criterion is met (demand), you have a hobby. There is nothing wrong with a hobby, but at least you’re honest with yourself.
Real quick, here’s the family profile I look for:
- Married parents
- Own home ($150,000+)
- Combined salary ($75,000+)
- Have kids between ages 6 – 14
- Sports enthusiasts
When you identify a community (of at least 1,000 families) that meets this criterion, you’re on fertile ground for running basketball camps.
By taking the time to do a little research (by yourself or with the Monetize Your Basketball Coaching membership), you’re setting your business up for success.
Unfortunately, for those who don’t research this properly, their business may be doomed from the start.
