Business or Hobby?

Step-by-step checklist for starting, marketing and running successful basketball camps.

Do you want to have a business or hobby? You may ask, what’s the difference? When you run a business, the intent is to generate a profit. Whereas, when engaging in a hobby, the intent is primarily to have fun.

There’s nothing wrong with both. It’s just important to be honest with yourself.

When building a basketball camp business, location is critical. Within your location, you MUST be able to check off the following boxes:

  1. There must be demand (kids wanting to play basketball)
  2. There must be means (parents able to afford paying your fees)

If there’s no demand, and no means, guess what, there’s no business. Period. Moral to the story, do your homework prior to offering any basketball camps. Your upfront research could save you tons of heartache on the backend.
